Why our ISO certification is good for your WordPress Hosting
Milou de Kleijn, October 11, 2017
As of July 2017, we are the only Managed WordPress Hosting provider in the world with an ISO 9001 and ISO 27001 certification. This means that both our quality assurance system (ISO 9001) and our information security system (ISO 27001) meet strict criteria. These criteria provide guarantees in terms of reliability, security, and continuity. In this article, we explain exactly what ISO certification entails and what the benefit is to you as a client.
What is ISO certification?
The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) manages and establishes different quality standards for various sectors. An ISO certificate incorporates the specific standards that have been established for your sector. You can use it to demonstrate to your clients and stakeholders that your company complies with the standards that are relevant to them.
What are the benefits of ISO certification?
The ISO quality standards force you to identify and optimise processes and structures. This makes it easier to control and manage your company. The standards are useful in optimising and evaluating performance and they provide an insight into processes for the whole organisation. This results in many benefits, including:
- Employee engagement in optimisation of processes
- Timely identification of problems
- Improvement of efficiency
How do you qualify for an ISO certificate?
Organisations are only considered for ISO certification if the ISO standard is assessed by an external organisation by means of an audit. You are only awarded the certificate once your organisation fully complies with all the standards prescribed in the ISO certificate.
ISO certificates from Savvii
We are proud to have been awarded the ISO 9001 and ISO 27001 certificates. We received these following assessment by an independent party. In our case, this was Dekra, who conducts annual audits to assess whether our systems meet the prescribed standards. Below you will find a few examples to give you an idea of how we apply these standards in practice:
We identify the key risks in our company by assessing the team, methods, and measures. We naturally try to limit those risks as quickly and effectively as possible. For example, Savvii has implemented a password policy that describes how to manage passwords securely. We lock our computers when we leave the workplace. The accounts of former colleagues are deleted immediately. All this promotes the security of our data.
We do not partner with just any supplier. We first carry out evaluations in respect of quality, costs, and timeliness of delivery, which enable us to assess and establish the reliability of suppliers objectively. If a supplier fails to meet our standards, we no longer work with them. In addition, client data are only entrusted to suppliers if our assessment of these suppliers shows that they meet strict criteria. We also look at supply processes to ensure they dovetail optimally with our own processes.
Savvii has an incident reporting system in place. An incident is an event or action that causes disruption of activities. Recording of incidents provides an understanding of which areas require improvement or even change. This enables us to learn from the incident and ensure it does not happen again.
A snapshot of incidents that have occurred and the solutions we provided:
- The building in which we work was closed during business hours: To prevent this, we included additional information in our procedure for opening and closing of the building.
- Without our knowledge, one of our servers was blacklisted: Although this was fairly easy to rectify, we naturally do not want it to happen again. Therefore, we now monitor the servers of the cluster in question.
Security and quality are key for Savvii Managed WordPress Hosting.
